I posted part one on my couples vacation, where to stay and what to see; part two where to eat and drink, and now here’s the final and final chapter – where to shop. shopping in paris is always a good idea and so much inspiration! such a great design, with excellent vintage treasures to be found and of course fun fashion. I collected some of my old favorite boutiques and some wonderful new discoveries that I was eager to discover. for example, be sure to check out the surrounding areas of canal st martin in the 10th arrondissement for some great shopping such as center commercial for fashion and craft homeware and unique homewares at jamin .macon & lesquoy is a perfect place for handmade souvenir brooches and artwork – I brought home a cutie baguette . in the heart of the palais royal gardens is maison bonnet where if you want to order custom glasses this is where jackie would get her signature sunglasses – ooooh la la! and close by is astier de villatte where they have the most beautiful ceramics and an incredible home decor collaboration john derian (sorry no photos allowed). here are some other shops we found during our travels through paris.
first vintage store is extraordinaire axes design because it was one of our favorite finds thanks to the shopkeepers who recommended it to me. shop owners and designers Ariel Novak and Sydney Sabatier couldn’t have been more friendly and welcoming, and their vintage curations are just as special and surprisingly affordable. we all left with loads of treasures and some fun history to go with as well as some new friends. the shop is in a beautiful courtyard tucked away from the street so use your GPS! 12 rue Saint Sabin, 75011 Paris.
sharing the same courtyard with axes design is the incredible antoinette poisson . the beautiful boutique retains the old world charm of 18th century interiors, with designs and motifs based on original creations and prints from historical archives. The brand’s flagship products include leaf printed papers, wallpapers, printed linens, perfumes, stationery and handmade decorative items for the home. The shop windows open to their workshop, where you can see the block printing and coloring of their signature backgrounds and prints. I have found a unique magazine here with my favorite pattern, ‘beautiful wood’. drop by and say hello to the lovely staff here. 12 rue Saint Sabin, 75011 Paris.
also for vintage enthusiasts — a must visit paul bert serpette the flagship of the puces de paris saint-ouen, Paul Bert Serpette is the world’s largest antiques market, so wear your sneakers because you’ll be covering a lot of ground. The Paul Bert Serpette is actually the specialist antiques market within the larger flea market, which spans several city blocks where you can find plenty of trinkets and excellent people watching. do not miss it. 110 rue des rosiers, saint ouen, 93400 paris.
drole de monsieur is a must-visit fashion boutique in le marais with distinctive and wearable everyday wardrobe, presented as a tribute to iconic sportswear. their collections are somewhere between fascination with the aesthetics of the 70s and 80s, nostalgia for the 90s, with a real focus on the chic comfort of today. past and present meet in their fun collections, with the sophistication of retro silhouettes and a cheeky motto that I must have hung on my walls – you can also wear it on a t-shirt: not from paris madame . 52 rue charlot, 75003 paris.
also in le marais is a lovely little shop i came across, inoui editions , a french accessory brand created by stylist lise guitton and textile designer mathilde bon. starting with their signature scarves, they moved on to collections of leather goods, home decor and ready-to-wear with the same design identity as their iconic prints. every print on their scarf tells you a story like a painting. there are multiple paris locations but i visited their le marais location. 17 rue des blancs manteaux, 75004 paris.
an old favorite of mine is merci , a concept store where you can buy not only french fashion but also fantastic homewares. its kind of my home away from home in paris, and when i feel a little lost or overwhelmed i go to merci to make you feel comfortable and welcome. and I always dine in their used? bookshop cafe at least once while I’m there. or I also stop in their very charming? le cine cafe . the store always has great displays, usually around a general theme, so I promise you’ll never leave uninspired. 111 Boulevard Beaumarchais, 75003 Paris.
jamin is a wonderful homewares shop that I have been following on Instagram for a long time , selling a range of household linens and home decor items with printed, woven or embroidered patterns on everything from clothing to table linens, pillows, bed linen and handmade Indian quilts – unique textile pieces with a bohemian aesthetic. I found this gorgeous kimono robe here too. 10 rue du chateau d’eau, 75010 paris.
artifact paris is another shop i came across by chance. located in le marais, on the historic Rue des Blancs-Manteaux, a road was named in 1289 after a monastery just behind the boutique, specializing in carefully selected teas from around the world and delicious house blends you can try in their small tea tasting room. it was a very hot day in Paris, and the very friendly shop owner offered me a refreshing cold herbal blend to try, which I ended up buying and taking home. they also have some beautiful ceramics, art books and household items. a really lovely little shop. 23 rue des blancs manteaux 75004 paris.
if vintage clothing is your thing, don’t miss the mamz’elle swing , also in le marais. I have never seen so many well put together vintage dresses in one place and could have taken home an armload of their beautiful prints. the handbags and hats were pretty grand too, so while you’re shopping at all the new clothing stores in le marais, go mamz’elle swing and get your vintage fix. 35 bis, king of sicily street, 75004 paris.
i’ve stopped in concept store la mouette rieuse for years, and it’s always a fun and inspiring visit full of beautiful art and photo books, whimsical stationery, parisian souvenirs, home decor and even a sweet little coffee and co-work cafe in the back . 17 bis rue pavée, 75004 paris.
le monde sauvage from founder Beatrice Laval is also an old favorite of mine and I have bought many a beautiful pillow and bedding in this lovely textile shop. it is somewhere you will fall in love with. 21 rue de Savigne, 75004 paris.
I’ve been following the socialite family design and lifestyle blog forever, but founder Constance Gennari has now opened several brick -and- mortar stores in Paris . I stopped at the shop in the 12th arrondissement, where the socialite family has chic modern lighting, furniture, textiles and a plethora of beautifully curated household items. 12 rue saint riacre, 75002 paris.
bon ton in le marais is always a stop for me not only for their cute kids items but also for their famous photo booth. add a few euros and you have a Parisian memory for life – always good for a laugh. the concept store is also super inspiring and now has furniture, homewares and even fashion for women. just down the street from merci it’s a must-visit for those who crave creativity and inspiration while shopping. 5 boulevard des filles du calvaire, 75003 paris.
la tresorerie is another shop i never miss when i come to paris. just like the general stores of yore, drugstores-hardware stores-merceries where you could find everything needed for a household’s gear, it’s a household junkie’s paradise with everything from cookware, unique kitchen gadgets like champagne corks to incredible linens, shopping bags to fragrance and soap. do not miss it! 11, rue du chateau d’eau, 75010 paris.
who says menswear is just for men? when I’m in Paris I like to check out the men’s shops, and anatomica paris is a new favorite find. I found a great canvas tote bag here (so big I carried all my treasures home in it), and we had a most enjoyable visit with the gentleman who runs their chic flagship store with vintage vibes. Follow them on Instagram too for an inspiring experience. 14 rue du bourg tibourg, 75004 paris.
